Willow Smith says she was not fazed by the media firestorm that broke out after her father, Will Smith, slapped Chris Rock on the 2022 Academy Awards, as a result of she sees her “complete household as being human.”
The 21-year-old singer and Emmy nominee broke her silence on the controversial incident in an interview with Billboard printed Friday, saying it didn’t derail her creativity or “rock me as a lot as my very own inside demons.”
“I see my complete household as being human, and I really like and settle for them for all their humanness,” she informed the publication. “Due to the place that we’re in, our humanness generally isn’t accepted, and we’re anticipated to behave in a means that isn’t conducive to a wholesome human life and isn’t conducive to being trustworthy.”
On the ceremony again in March, Will Smith hit host Rock after the comic made a joke about his spouse Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head as he introduced the Academy Award for finest documentary. Pinkett Smith suffers hair loss because of the autoimmune situation alopecia.
“The Recent Prince of Bel-Air” star then walked off the stage and shouted, “go away my spouse’s identify out of your f**king mouth” from his seat.
Smith, 53, has since resigned from the Academy, which banned him from the awards present for 10 years.
