Animal care: Woman fighting the city of Galveston to choose permanent home for monkey that wasn’t allowed to be on island

GALVESTON, Texas (KTRK) — A lady is asking and hoping that town of Galveston would permit her to decide on a house for her former pet monkey that she and her son purchased whereas on trip.

Lilly is a 4-year-old capuchin monkey Leigh Kuchera purchased for her son after he was going via a tough patch.

“I took him in another country to Honduras on a trip to attempt to regroup,” stated Kuchera. “He met capuchin monkeys and completely fell in love with them. And he stated, ‘can we please get one.'”

They weren’t dwelling in Galveston then, but when a monkey named Lilly rings a bell, it is as a result of she escaped from their Galveston home throughout a break-in and went lacking in January 2020.

Kuchera stated she was not sure how animal management knew of Lilly’s presence.

The Metropolis of Galveston stated in an announcement that the primate continues to be of their care at Moody Gardens.
